December 2013:

almost a full month spent in Brazil..

Always ready to take on new challenges,  this December Ikonostas flied to Uberlandia to support the bespoken Brazilian haute couture brand FABIANA MILAZZO. 

The collaboration consist in:

– trend research, leading up an European eye

– designing and fitting new styles for the new Spring Summer 2015, oh yes, in Brazil fashion week is 6 month earlier compared to Europe

– introducing corsetry

It was lovely to collaborate with the company, that is specialized in handmade embroidery, and showing them the art of corsets.

All the workers in Brazil shown an incredible versatility, the machinists and the pattern cutters have a different method of work, is really far from the strict one I always worked with in Vivienne Westwood Ltd, where Germans and Austrians go directly to the final result, or in Italy, where machinists and pattern cutters show an extreme care for any detail. In Brazil schools well prepared like the European ones don’t exist, but this give to the people an enormous advantage: they wanna learn, they desire improve their method, and they show humble in this desire. I really appreciate this aspect.
