Couture Dress Stolen – Please support the brand!
I want to share the following story for two reasons: I would like to advice emerging designers to be helpful when they loan their own creations and hoping to receive help to resolve a trouble. I usually don’t like to write on the name of the persons that work in a bad way, but I hope you can understand that I will do for this story because is the reality.
I am passionate in fashion from when I was child, I remember I always sewn clothes to my dolls.. who didn’t make that? Then, when I was 13 I seen a fashion show in TV, it was a Vivienne Westwood show in Paris, and at that point I seen that fashion is not only appearance but also attitude.. when I become adult I chose to study fashion because I seen in this field the major motor of communication. I did many sacrifices to construct my brand that is the fruit of an intensive research and of different work experiences.
Two years ago I was contacted from Mrs. Dawnn Karen http://www.fashionpsychologysuccess.com/ because she asked me a dress on loan for a Tv appearance she had to do in Australia. In those days I was running to Brazil so I didn’t have time to ask her to sign any contract, she required me the dress urgently and I asked to my customer in London, that had the dress in its window boutique, to send her the dress by an express carriage. UPS gone to Mrs. Dawnn address several times without finding her. Then, after several e.mails from me, she gone to take at the carriage office. – She never made that Tv appearance – I asked her the dress back or to give it to a photographer based in her own city, New York, because he wanted took some pictures of the dress.
She told me she wanted use for other occasions, and the following time I asked again for the dress she told she was outside the country for months and that she took the dress with her (without asking me if she can do it).
Time flied and.. you know how is difficult for fashion designers and entrepreneur of yourself to find time to follow this kind of things.. I wrote her friendly 10 days ago asking news about my dress. She told me that the luggage where it was in was stolen during her travel in United Arab Emirates 6 months ago. She never advised me before about it. I was really disappointed and I wrote this during our chat (on facebook), and I asked her she has to refund me for the value of the dress, that is the original sample I made and the unique one. She called me and she told me that she has not any trouble to send me the amount of that value, € 1.000,00, that amount, she told me, is not a problem for her.
After that conversation we talked about eventual different solutions, then, we agreed to be updated after few days but she disappeared and she canceled my name from her facebook contact. I waited 10 days hoping she wrote me an e.mail as we agreed but nothing happened. So this morning I asked her to write me a date for the bank transfer. I received an answer from somebody working with her just saying
‘Good Day!
Thank you for reaching out. For branding purposes the Fashion Psychologist was previously advised to deactivate her Facebook account. As for this matter, our legal team consists of the honorable Judge Franc Perry and we have been advised that your claim has no merit due to no contractual agreement. That being said, thank you for your donation. We wish you all the best in your endeavors and if you would like for us to sponsor a social media campaign to assist in promoting your brand please let us know. Enjoy your day!
Sincerely, Carleta Fearon’
I am sorely disappointed to know that people that I believed that works to encourage fashion designers don’t respect our sacrifices. For me that amount is a lot considering I am working hard to follow my dreams doing everything by myself and now I need to invest money to do the new collection and participate in International fashion fairs. I wanted take that dress with me at the fair and during my next travel in USA where I will try to catch my dreams, but the supplier of the fabric requires a minimum quantity to produce it again and several weeks, and you know well that to make a sample the cost is very high, more than double respect the production.
The dress is that one you see in these pictures.
I don’t want ask you money but just if you know some shops that could be interested to have this dress, at a price that, for this causa, wanted be less than the wholesale price I usually calculate. If I receive sufficient orders and a percentage of the cost in advance this can permit me to order the fabric from the supplier and to make the dress again.
For any details about eventual orders please contact me at info@ikonostas.net
Meanwhile I continue to persist in something I believe in, my brand Ikonostas.
Hoping to receive a positive feedback.
Your sincerely,
the designer

P.S. I informed the person that is writing me that is not possible to have any refund of the dress that I had to tell this story to look a way to produce again the dress, but, as I am a dreamer, I really hope that Mrs. Dawnn will get a sense of this situation and that I can write about her great things in the next days.
